The Necessity of the Gospel in Worship: Part 3

We will all worship something in our lives. Everywhere you see worship, you will always see the worshipper seeing what he lacks and attempting to fill that gap with something. A rich man seeks after more riches. A gambler is always chasing the big win. The lustful person always seeks the perfect mate. It never ends in joy because, get this, IT ENDS! All are seeking life where there is ultimately death. The truth is that we are all dead upon arrival, but have been ransomed by our great mediator whose reign will never die (Hebrews 10:21, 1 Tim 2:5). He is the treasure we must worship because His love, His riches, His outpouring will never cease! Jesus Himself saw this when He said:

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21).

Let your worship be foundationally on the only One that will never fade away.
