4.5.26
Father, what a gift it is to celebrate the resurrection of your son Jesus Christ together today. We rejoice and praise you, Jesus, our Risen King, for you are seated on your rightful throne ruling and reigning now. This day in history changed everything. The guilt that was laid upon us in the garden is reversed. Your crown of thorns undoing our curse of thorns. Your shame and punishment outside the garden, allowing us to reenter the garden and be with you forever. Your resurrection is our resurrection but we don’t always live like that. Sometimes, in fact oftentimes, we forget who we are. We live like those under the curse, letting shame or pride rule our hearts. We still reach for the fruit that we know brings death. We forget the power we have through your Holy Spirit to overcome our sinful desire. We forget that we are a new creation no longer bound to even our most besetting sin. The ones that we are convinced will harass us all our days. No. Even those have been defeated on the cross. On our darkest days, when our fleshly reality overshadows the work of Christ, remind us, Holy Spirit, that it is finished. Remind us that we are a resurrected people, clothed in Christ. Thank you Jesus, the one who knew no sin, for becoming the curse for us. You never desired the forbidden fruit because you knew the Father perfectly. Help us to grow in our love and trust, every day, drawing nearer to you until that day when we know you fully. Until then, we pray Come, Lord Jesus Come. Amen.

Loving God, we come before you this morning with joyful hearts; fully in awe of and surrendered to you. You are Almighty God, and the Maker and Creator of all things... the One who spoke galaxies into existence and set the stars in their place. Your power is beyond our understanding, stretching across the vastness of the universe. Yet you are also the Maker of the smallest details, forming even the tiniest parts of creation with care and precision. There is nothing too great for you, and nothing too small for your attention. We praise you for your greatness, your wisdom, and your perfect design. We praise you for being a God whose truth transforms hearts and whose grace leads us into a life that reflects you. Lord, we confess that too often our faith has been words without action. We have claimed to believe, yet failed to love. We have seen needs and turned away. We have been content with comfortable religion instead of costly obedience. Forgive us for the times we have separated what we believe from how we live. Forgive us for the moments when our faith has been passive, lifeless, or self-centered. Spirit, we thank you that you are working in our lives to make us more like you. Thank you for your grace and mercy that you so freely give us even when our actions fall short. Teach us to trust you not only with our words but with our lives. Open our eyes to the needs around us, and help us to be doers of the Word, not hearers only. May our lives bear witness to the reality of our trust in you, so that others would see and glorify your name. We ask all of this in Jesus’ Name… And all of God’s children said, Amen!

Based on Psalm 19
"7 The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart."
Father, thank you for your presence here with us now. Thank you that though you are infinitely holy, we can come to you as our loving father. And so we come as your children, in need of your forgiveness. Lord, we know that your words are perfect. Your commands are right and good. When you speak, it is only truth. There is no flaw in your tongue. We can’t even fathom the ability to speak perfectly. We don’t have to look back days or weeks to our last failure of speech, we need only look back hours or even minutes. You have given us the gift of communication but it can also be our greatest hindrance. For the words that we choose are also the window to our hearts. Revealing what truly lies beneath. Our words can unveil our bias, jealousy, greed, malice and deceit. Our words can cause dissension, doubt and even disbelief. Oftentimes our words come out of habit, without intention or thought. Forgive us. It is too great a burden to bear when we take an honest look at every word that comes out of our mouths. And so we cry out with the Psalmist: Psalm 19 : "How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer." Holy Spirit we rely on you to guide, direct, and convict our hearts when we misspeak or even desire to do so. Cleanse our hearts so that the fountain from which our words flow, would be pure and undefiled. Jesus, you are the Word made flesh. All that you spoke was pleasing to your Father and so we cling to you. Thank you for your gracious loving words towards us, that we are forgiven and redeemed. Amen.
4.26.26
Father, we come before you this morning, a broken people with flesh that is weak like a jar made of clay... a clay jar that has a distinct purpose, but can easily be shattered. We are easily shattered, Lord. Sometimes, we are shattered by things that are completely out of our control. A sudden cancer diagnosis... the death of a child, a parent, a spouse, or a friend... the loss of a job due to layoffs. Sometimes, we are shattered by things that are partially within our control. A broken relationship... a car accident... financial instability. And sometimes, we are shattered by things that are completely within our control. Our thoughts... how we respond to our feelings... our pursuit of idols.
Lord, all of these life-shattering situations point back to one thing... sin. Sin that affects the physical world, sin that affects the thoughts and actions of others and sin that affects our thoughts and actions. No matter where we look, sin is negatively affecting everything around us and within us. But you, the God that created the universe and this world and everything that is in it and are the King of kings and Lord of lords... you have conquered Satan and sin and death and hell... you loved us so much that you sent your only son to die on our behalf and take the punishment for sin that we fully deserved.
Thank you Father... we cannot thank you enough. All we can do is praise your name and ask the Holy Spirit to help us live our lives according to your word as best we can, to live our lives as living sacrifices for your glory alone.
Father, give us wisdom for daily living. Give us wisdom for discerning right from wrong. Give us wisdom for our common, everyday decision making. Give us wisdom for those rare, life-altering decisions. Help us to gain your wisdom from the wise and help us to nurture your wisdom in the next generation.
Lord, in all we do, help us to glorify your name with all of our heart, with all of our mind and with all of our soul. It’s in your name we pray, Amen.
