If you have had the privilege of meeting Martha Davis, our Preschool and Diverse Needs Kidway Assistant, you will quickly learn she has a big heart for people, specifically children with diverse needs. For years now she has championed a variety of ministries for kids with Autism, ADHD, physical limitations, and more. Although we have implemented a number of initiatives and ministries for Kidway, Martha was continually brought back to thinking about how we are loving and serving our adults with diverse needs as well.
In late 2024, we began looking into starting a Life Group for adults with Diverse Needs. We reviewed a few different curriculums and began conversations with some volunteers and families if there would be interest. Under the leadership of Cheryl Drake, a new Adult Diverse Needs Life Group started in January 2025 that met monthly to learn about biblical developmental appropriate content, connect with each other, and do different activities and fun games together. Over the months we have had 4 adults regularly attend this Life Group. This is the only space, outside a Sunday morning service, that these adults connect with our church family.
At their last meeting in May, the adults were asked if they would like to continue their Life Group in the fall. Not only did each of them want to continue but they asked if the Life Group could increase to twice a month. As a church that desires to be a family that glorifies God by making disciples of Jesus Christ, we are thrilled that this is one small way we can love and serve our Christian brothers and sisters.
