No Other Name: A Weekend of Renewal at The Journey

This year’s Journey marked a meaningful milestone as we returned to Beulah Beach Camp for the first time in seven years. From the moment students arrived, there was a shared expectation that God was going to do something significant. The weekend’s theme, “No Other Name,” (Phillipians 2:9-11) anchored every teaching, conversation, and moment of worship, calling students to wrestle with the truth that salvation is found in Jesus alone and that following him is not optional, but a defining call on every believer’s life.

Throughout the retreat, students participated in a variety of breakout sessions led by trusted and dynamic voices. We were blessed to welcome guest leaders, including Pastor Josh, who taught on basic theology, and Cody Ohnmiess, who challenged students to remain grounded in their faith. Each session offered biblical truth paired with practical tools, equipping students to live out what they believe in their everyday lives.

Worship played a central role in the weekend and was led by a guest worship team made up of local worship pastors under the leadership of Bob Gardner, an eight-year veteran guest worship leader. These worship gatherings were thoughtful, powerful, and Spirit-led, creating space for students to engage with God not just emotionally, but sincerely. Music became a meaningful response to what students were learning and experiencing throughout the retreat.

The undeniable highlight of the weekend came during the late-night worship service. Students were invited to share their personal testimonies, stories of what God has done and what he is currently doing in their lives. With remarkable honesty and vulnerability, students stepped forward, many through tears, to share their stories. These moments deeply impacted their peers and profoundly moved the adult leaders who witnessed God’s work unfolding in real time.

The Journey continues to be far more than a fun getaway. Year after year, we see genuine spiritual growth as students step away from everyday distractions and devote focused time to Scripture, teaching, worship, and community. And, of course, no recap would be complete without celebrating that, for the second year in a row, the sophomore boys claimed both the skit competition victory and the overall Life Group award.

We are deeply grateful to everyone at Gateway Church who helps make events like this possible. Your prayer, time, and investment is bearing real and lasting fruit in the lives of our students.
