2025 Interns

Written by: The Communication Team

Summer is here, and so are our summer interns! The Gateway Church summer internship program has begun with five interns: Jada Todd, Jeremiah Spiceland, Alex Stevens, Tyler St. Croix, and Bauldwine Lazare. They'll all spend a week with each ministry department to sample the ins and outs of vocational ministry. We're excited for them to experience life on a church staff and look forward to having them all summer. If you see them at either campus, take a second and say hi!

Here are some questions we asked them to help you get to know them a little better:

Jada Todd

School: University of Toledo

Major: Accounting

How did you end up at Gateway Church? I always grew up in church but started coming to Gateway about 3 years ago (with Gabe)

What's one thing you hope to learn from this internship? I hope to learn more about how the church runs behind the scenes and also learn more about myself and what working at the church looks like. I also help to develop relationships with other like-minded college students and encourage each other.

What's one thing everyone should know about you? Everyone in my family's name starts with a J.

Favorite Bible verse: Isaiah 41:10 "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strength you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my rightoues right hand."

If you were a fruit, which would you be and why? Strawberry; can go together with a lot of different meals/people, they make me think of summer time

Jeremiah Spiceland

School: University of Findlay

Major: Exercise Science and Strength and Conditioning

How did you end up at Gateway Church? Started attending Gateway with UF students.

What's one thing you hope to learn from this internship? I hope that this internship will reveal to me where I can serve within the church after college.

What's one thing everyone should know about you? I help lead Young Life here in Findlay.

Favorite Bible verse: Romans 8:28 "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."

If you were a fruit, which would you be and why? I would be a mango because they bring a warm vibe and are versatile.

Alex Stevens

School: University of Findlay

Major: Animal science pre-vet

How did you end up at Gateway Church? Many people from Young Life and UF go to Gateway and I started attending.

What's one thing you hope to learn from this internship? I hope to better understand what all is involved in running a church. Also, I hope to grow closer to God and form a community!

What's one thing everyone should know about you? I love helping animals and people.

Favorite Bible verse: I don't think I have a favorite but I like Psalms, one that stands out is Psalm 127.

If you were a fruit, which would you be and why? Strawberries because they are pink and that's my favorite color. They are also sweet.

Tyler St. Croix

School: Bowling Green State University

Major: Applied Health Science

How did you end up at Gateway Church? I got connected through my ministry leader, Lincoln Peters, with a ministry on my campus called Campus Outreach!

What’s one thing you hope to learn from this internship? I’m hoping this internship will help me discern whether I’m called to full-time ministry and give me a behind-the-scenes look at how a ministry operates. I’m incredibly excited to see what the Lord reveals and how He chooses to bless me during this experience—whatever that looks like!

What’s one thing everyone should know about you? Okay, maybe two things! First, you’ll definitely know when I walk into a room—I’m loud, energetic, and always talking (I’m a total people person). Second, I love challenges. Put me on the spot, and I’ll give it everything I’ve got.

Favorite Bible Verse: 1 Corinthians 11:1 – “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.”

If you were a fruit, which would you be and why? Definitely a blueberry. Even when it’s out of season, it’s still gas. You really can’t get tired of it!

Bauldwine Lazare

School: Bowling Green State University

Major: Aviation Management

How'd you end up at Gateway Church: Through friends in the ministry (Campus Outreach)

What's one thing you hope to learn from this internship?: I hope to get an understanding of what my spiritual gifts are.

What's one thing everyone should know about you?: Me and my brother have the same birthday, but we're two years apart.

Favorite Bible verse: Act 20:24 "But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God."

If you were a fruit, which would you be and why?: A banana because they are:

  • Reliable – always there when you need them.
  • Low-drama – no thorns, no seeds, just chill.
  • Adaptable – good solo, great in groups (smoothies, bread, pancakes).
  • Friendly and approachable – almost no one hates bananas.
  • A little quirky – they age fast, get freckles, and somehow become sweeter with time.
