Father God, you are compassionate and faithful, slow to anger and abounding in love! You see us right where we are- in times of both joy and sorrow, because you are the author of it all. No circumstance in our life is a surprise to you. Thank you for walking with us over the mountains-and for carrying us through the valleys of this life. You know the burdens we carry and the pain we feel due to the weight of this broken and sinful world. You are not distant from our suffering, and you are not careless with our tears. Even when we can’t see it, you are present and at work- holding us, strengthening us, and walking with us through every trial. We praise you not because life is easy, but because you are faithful and your love does not let us go. Jesus, we confess that it is often hard to trust you- especially when we are personally walking through trials or sorrow. We confess that it is difficult to be joyful in all things when this beautiful world that you created is filled with so much fighting, pain, death, blasphemy and blatant rebellion against you. It is difficult to not lose hope, grow impatient, or wonder if you are really at work. Forgive us for the ways we struggle to believe that you are using even this for good. Spirit, meet us in our weakness, and help us to trust you. Your Word promises us that you are near to the brokenhearted, and that you save those who are crushed in spirit. We come to you this morning bringing both our joys and sorrows, and take this time now for silent reflection and for you to search our hearts and reveal any areas that we need to surrender to you. Through Jesus Christ, our sins are forgiven, our failures covered, and our suffering redeemed. Thank you for walking with us through every trial, for strengthening us when we feel weak, and for using even difficult seasons to draw us closer to you. We draw strength from your promise that you will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and death will be no more, neither will there be mourning, crying, or pain anymore, for the former things will have passed away. We look forward with HOPE to that day- and hold fast to that JOY until you come again, Lord Jesus. We pray all of these things in the beautiful Name above all names, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Father, you are holy and worthy of our praise. You are gracious, loving, merciful and generous. You give freely and abundantly to all of our needs. And what we need is your wisdom. You tell us to ask and that you will provide. You give wisdom without questioning our past unwise decisions. You give wisdom without restraint and not based on our merit or gifts but based on your generosity. Thank you.
We confess that we often seek wisdom apart from you. We believe we have all the knowledge we need at our fingertips where a simple search will tell us all we need to know. We search to gain information, to soothe our racing minds, to know more than our colleagues, to be experts, to be - all knowing because If we are honest we don’t want wisdom, we want omniscience. We want to know all you know instead of trusting. We want to know the outcome, the future. And so, we dull our dependence on you. We dull our need for faith that relies solely on you. It’s no wonder we are tossed about by the sea of information we consume. It’s no wonder we pray with uncertainty. We have one foot in your kingdom and one foot in the things of this world. But you have called us to come and ask with our whole heart for you Lord are unsearchable. And your ways are not found in a quick scroll. And the wisdom we need is only found in you. Help us to seek you first, Jesus. Help us to be content in not knowing all the facts but to rest in the one that transcends all time, space and knowledge. Thank you Jesus for being the wisdom we need and displaying your trust as you went to the cross on our behalf.
Give us wisdom, give generously. Amen.
