Corporate Prayers July 2025

7.6.25

Holy Father, we thank you for the tremendous gift it is to be called together as your people to receive your Word and to sit at your table today. And though we are unworthy, you, in your great grace have given us access through the person and work of Jesus Christ. And that should cause each of us to take very seriously the way in which we approach your table. We lie. We cheat. We curse. We ruin. We cause strife. We revel in misery. We don’t fear you. And then we have the audacity in our suffering to question your righteousness or your faithfulness or your mercy. And this simple fact would be amusing if it weren’t so grave: you never turned your eyes from us, we looked way from you. So as we venture toward your table, let each of us reckon with how we’ve fallen short of your glory; how we’ve failed to make Christ look glorious. And Spirit allow each of us to do so with contrition, but also with assurance. Assurance that our repentance does not fall on deaf ears. Assurance there is a God on the other end who hears us and loves us. A God who loves us so much, he gave his only Son, the righteous for the unrighteous, so that we may breathe the sweet aroma of forgiveness. So that even in our deepest suffering, we know our Savior is near to us. And may we make him look glorious. It’s in the glorious name of Jesus Christ we have gathered and in his name we pray all these things, Amen.

Father God, thank you for this day. Thank you for this place to come before you in worship. We are in awe of you today. Your power, your glory, your wisdom. You are amazing and we praise you and you alone. Please forgive our broken hearts today, Lord. For we turn away for you time and time again. We put our sinful desires over your ways, and we acknowledge that that sin separates us from your holiness. Wash us and cleanse us from the sin in our lives. Make us perfect and holy in your sight, not out of anything we have or could do, but by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ alone. In his saving name we pray, Amen.

7.13.25

God of peace, hear us now as we come before you. You are glorious, righteous, perfect in all your ways. You alone know the hearts of man. You alone deserve all of the glory and honor that we give to all the other gods in our lives and consequently, our hearts are often in turmoil. Because of this misplaced love and affection, we find it hard to live in harmony with our brothers and sisters. Our nature is to protect ourselves, our reputation, our pride. But you call us to lay that down and bless the ones that have hurt us. You tell us to pray for our enemies, to feed them, to earnestly seek good for them but we struggle to do so even for the people we love. And so we turn our gaze to the one who lived in perfect peace, who fed his foes, who clothed his captors, and sought the good for his enemy even unto death. Thank you Jesus for overcoming evil once and for all with your love and sacrifice. For the one who is enduring persecution or suffering, facing a strong enemy we ask for mercy. We ask that the peace of the knowledge that vengeance is yours, would settle our anxious hearts. Holy Spirit, only by your power can we hope to live as our Savior. Help us to demonstrate your goodness this week to not only our friends but also to our enemies. Amen

7.20.28

Sovereign Lord, our God and King, you reign above all. Enthroned in majesty, unshaken by time, untouched by chaos. The heavens declare your glory, and the earth is your footstool. Your will is perfect, your power is limitless, and your wisdom beyond searching. We bow before you, acknowledging that all things are sustained by your command. No purpose of yours can be thwarted. You are God, and there is no other. Yet Lord, we confess how often we resist your sovereign hand. We try to rule our own lives, doubting your wisdom, questioning your timing, fearing your plans. In pride, we forget that we are only dust, we are creatures, not Creator. Forgive us, Jesus, for the arrogance of our independence and the smallness of our trust. Cleanse us from our rebellion and make our hearts willing to submit to your good and perfect will. We thank you, God, that your sovereignty is not cold or distant, but wrapped in mercy and clothed in grace. Thank you for ruling not only in justice but in love, for sending Christ, who submitted perfectly to your will, that through his death and resurrection we might be brought near. Thank you that even when we don’t understand your ways, we can trust that your purposes are for our good and your glory. Help us to think and to see with this eternal perspective. Because you are sovereign, no sin is too great to be forgiven, no heart too wayward that your grace cannot reclaim. Your word assures us: “As high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.” We rest in that promise, Father God. Let us take this time now to silently come before the Lord and ask the Spirit to soften our hearts; to increase our awareness of our own sinfulness and need for his grace, and to help us recall his faithfulness in our lives. Amen.
