Begin Where You Are Article

Emily Peters, North Main Kidway Director & Assistant Youth Director

Students who have attended the Journey and Youth Life Groups have been discussing what it means to pause and seek God in their daily lives. Their lessons have stressed the necessity of them making their relationship with God their own, reminding students that their salvation rests between them and God alone.

One important rhythm we hope students will begin to develop as growing Christians is one of personal quiet time in the Word and prayer. This week, we dove deeper into what prayer can look like in our daily lives. From studying Romans and learning that the Holy Spirit will intercede on our behalf to evaluating elements of the Lord’s Prayer, students are using what they learn from scripture to guide them as they go to God in prayer.

Prayer is a powerful tool. It’s encouraging to see that the more we study, our students are beginning to realize the power of prayer. We’ve encouraged them that there doesn’t need to be an elaborate structure to their prayers as they get started. God cares about your heart as you come before him and less about the perfect phrasing of incredible vocabulary words. This week’s resource shares about ‘beginning where you are’ in prayer. Read more for encouragement about prayer that is beneficial for us all, especially those teaching young people about the spiritual discipline of prayer, in this week’s article.
